OKEIKO 43
The foot rhythm (ashi-byōshi) called "fumikomi" often appears in "go-sūghi-mono". As I have mentioned before, foot rhythm is not uncommon in dance in general, not just in Nihonbuyo. However, the “fumikomi” foot rhythm seen in festive pieces is not a beating of light rhythm. It looks as if the dancer is stomping on the ground with their feet. This is also said to have the meaning of dispelling evil spirits.
